Aphrodite Sands Resort, Mandria

We are currently staying at Aphroditi Sands Resort in Mandria, about 15 minutes west of Paphos and easily accessible by taxi (or the 601 bus during the day). We are very lucky as the boyfriend’s parents are renting the place for the summer so we haven’t had to pay for accommodation ourselves, but from what I can gather from the internet it’s around £65 a night.

You can get 1, 2 or 3 bed self catering apartments which all come with a balcony or porch area facing the central pools. The bedrooms are spacious and there’s an en suite as well as a family bathroom, plus a large ish open plan kitchen/dining room/living room area which opens onto the balcony which has its own table for some al fresco dining.

The pool area is really nice- never too crowded that we can’t find a sunbed and umbrella, but you do have to be down early (9.00 latest) or just after lunch to get two together. The pool is lovely and cool in the day but still pleasantly warm in the evening and never too busy the you can’t do a few laps.

There is also a gym and spa on site however the spa is quite expensive so it’s really only a special treat but it does look lovely. The resort is only 5 minutes walk out of Mandria  where there are several tavernas (some traditional Cypriot and some very English i.e. fish and chips and an Indian/Chinese- see reviews here) as well as a small grocery and gift shop.

As mentioned above, there is a bus stop in Mandria for those with no rental car. It’s not the most frequent and the last bus back is at 4pm but it is useful for getting into Paphos  (although you do have to change to the 618 at Karavella station). You can also get the more regular 631 which goes to Petra tou Romiou and get off on the Paphos-Limassol Old Road then walk into Mandria. Thankfully the buses are all air conditioned!

The resort is very close to the sea and is about a 20 minute walk in the heat (or a quick drive) to the beach which has sun loungers and umbrellas as well as a small bar with cheap drinks and snacks, and a very friendly owner.

The owner Evros and all of his staff are so friendly and helpful with things like bus timetables, airport transfers and recommendations for places to go and it makes a huge difference to your stay. This is a wonderful resort in a lovely quiet village, away from the tourist packed areas of Paphos.
