Ostello Meet, Lake Garda

The final hostel of this trip, Ostello Meet Lake Garda (Meet Hostel) in Peschiera del Garda has been the best! It’s just 10 minutes from the train station with very clear sign posts leading you there, and is only 50m from the lake!

A bed in a 8 bed female dorm cost me €56 for two nights, plus €1.60 city tax (cash only). The room has seperate en suite shower and toilet, plus bathrooms in the corridor, a balcony, a curtained changing area and large lockers, but you will need your own padlock- or you can get one from reception for a €5 deposit.

The price includes a simple breakfast of bread and jam, cereal, eggs, juice and hot drinks but if you buy a drink at their bar around 8pm you can get dinner (simple pasta or couscous) for free which is amazing value when a glass of wine is only €2!! It’s also a great way to meet fellow travellers and gain some tips about where to go in the area.
Saying this, the hostel provides loads of information about activities in the area. They have a huge board of ideas and leaflets, plus bus and train timetables to help you plan your day. The staff at reception are also more than happy to help and provide maps etc as well as selling some tickets like those for Gardaland theme park at a reduced price.

The common room is very relaxed and comfortable with huge sofas and hammocks to relax in. There’s also a rooftop terrace with loads of beanbags and tables to enjoy the sunshine and socialise, as well as watch a beautiful sunset over the lake after dinner- but you will need bug spray as there’s a lot of mosquitoes that appear in the evening!

The hostel is also suprisingly family friendly- there’s loads of families with small children here so I assume they have private family rooms available, and there’s even a toy area and cartoons on tv near reception for them which is good.

Despite this being the nicest of the hostels I’ve stayed in on this trip, I will be glad to get home and in my own bed! Any recommendations for good hostels in interesting places for my next trip?
